General James Ironwood
"Hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable."
DUE PROCESS
James’ weapon of choice is a pair of firearms named Due Process. They at first appear only to be a slightly-oversized revolvers, though they also possess characteristics similar to those of a semi-automatic pistol. Each unit has a six-chambered, hexagonal cylinder, as well as a slide, and has two triggers and an external hammer. Both units sport intricate floral etching along the slides and grips, and fluorescent blue accents on the cylinders, and below the barrels. One unit is white, one black.
The white unit, at least, has been seen to have quite a high resistance physical damage, as her user has been shown to also use her as a blunt weapon. She has been observed being used in this manner against both grimm and robotic opponents. She appears to be quite a powerful weapon, as she has been observed to incapacitate small grimm and Atlesian Knight-200 units with a single shot each.
Her sister unit has only been seen used in a ranged capacity thus far, but she is presumably equally as durable. However, the black unit differs in that she exclusively fires gravity dust ammunition, or ammunition containing gravity dust blends.
Both units may be placed into an external apparatus that fires an extremely powerful, concentrated laser blast, comparable in strength to one generated by the Floating Array unit wielded by Penny Polendina.
METTLE
James’ semblance is a mostly-passive one, allowing him to ignore the physical sensations, and even limited effects, of physical damage, fatigue, dehydration, or hunger.
It allows him, in essence, to shrug off damage that would incapacitate another fighter, allowing him to focus on tasks that said damage may prevent him from completing. It doesn’t stop him taking damage or feeling anything at all: it moreso dulls it down and allows him to ignore it.
It can be triggered by a survival response, though he can choose to activate it to achieve comparatively-less-pressing goals than literal survival. Given his mental illness, however, and the position he occupies in the fight against Salem, most things for him relate back to survival.
[ Note: his explanation of Mettle differs greatly from what it is explained to be by the writers. I acknowledge that the writers have given us an explanation, but given it’s a stupid-ass explanation, I’ve elected to ignore it. A full write-up can be made available upon request. ]

Tattoos: None; previously had tattoos of the constellations aquila, canis major, and canis minor on his right arm prior to its amputation. Has considered having them redone as airbrush on his prosthetic arm.
Scarring
James sports extensive scarring along the seam where his prosthetic right half meets his organic body.
He has several additional scars on the left side of his chest and his lower left shoulder from procedures associated with his artificial heart.
There used to be faint scarring around his neurotransmitter from its installation, though he now possesses electrical burn scarring around it as well.
There is more scarring at the end of his left shoulder where the majority of his left arm was amputated.
Prostheses
James is missing his right leg and arm from the hip and shoulder, respectively, and has suffered serious enough trauma to the right side of his torso and pelvis to warrant reconstructive cybernetics. Gravity dust stores in his prosthetic leg and in strategic parts of his torso are used to keep him balanced and reduce the strain of his weight on his remaining joints. More recently, he’s lost most of his left arm above the elbow due to severe burns and a degloving injury suffered when freeing himself from a hardlight barrier.
He was outfitted with a neurotransmitter in order to help him operate his prosthetic limbs, and during the installation process, his right eye was slightly damaged. Enough further damage was caused at the Fall of Beacon to warrant a lens being fitted over his right eye, though he maintains excellent eyesight, as evidenced by his near-perfect marksmanship.
He does not openly discuss the incident or incidents that led to these developments. But despite this, it is mostly common knowledge to the Atlesian public that James is missing his right hand and forearm, though general awareness of just how extensive his prostheses are ends there. Those who work closely with him are likely aware of the full extent of his missing arm, and may have knowledge of at least part of the status of his right leg. Knowledge of his torso and beyond is extremely protected, and no member of the public has seen him since the loss of his left arm.
